SV001 — Nelson Dionne Collection. View up Brown Street, looking to the east, from the spire of St. Peter's Church on Church Street. The Andrew-Safford House is visible in the distance to the center, along with the Franklin Building, home to the Marine Society Hall, to the right-center which is now the site of the Hawthorne Hotel. Circa 1878.

Mislabeled as, "View From Top of Hose Tower," in reference to the firehouse farther west on Church Street.

Published by Peabody & Tilton, "booksellers and stationers," at 220 Essex Street in "Views of Salem, Mass. and Vicinity."

View is a duplicate of SV002.
